May 25, 2026

We wish to inform you that as of May 23rd 2026 at 12:01am, Community Living Oakville was in a legal strike position and employees have commenced strike action on Monday May 25th.

Understandably, this news may be very concerning. We want to assure you that our contingency plans, including the continuity of critical services, have been activated in order to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the people we support. Our Program Managers are on standby to address any questions that families and caregivers may have. Please do not hesitate to reach out to them.

These are challenging times for all parties. We value and keenly recognize the essential contributions of our Direct Support Workers. It is why we are determined to respect the collective bargaining process and negotiate in good faith. We are hopeful that we will be able to reach a fair and sustainable agreement within our funding reality.

What this means for families, caregivers and community partners:

-Our office locations, including our main office at 1333 Dorval Dr. Unit 300, and 240 Wyecroft will be closed for the duration of the strike.

-Our supported living homes will continue to operate with contracted staff.

-Certain programs such as The Hub, Community Connect, or Xcel will be closed for the duration of the strike.

Frequent, Transparent Communications

We appreciate the unsettling impact this situation places on the people we support, their families, caregivers and community partners. While some matters remain out of our control, we can and will keep you as informed and up to date as possible.
